Discover why Yahya (AS) bears a name never given before in the Holy Quran (Surah Maryam 19:7).
📖 Surah Maryam (19:7)
In the quiet of the mihrab, Prophet Zakariya (AS) raised his hands in supplication to Allah SWT. Advanced in years, with a barren wife, he pleaded for a righteous heir to uphold the faith. His whispered prayer echoed his deep faith and longing for continuity in guiding the people.
Allah SWT, in His infinite mercy, responded through angels bearing glad tidings. 'O Zakariya,' they announced, 'We give you good news of a son whose name shall be Yahya—a name We have not conferred on anyone before.' This unique naming marked Yahya (AS) as a sign of divine favor, destined to be a prophet of purity, wisdom, and compassion, confirming the scriptures and calling people to righteousness.
Yahya (AS) grew to embody filial piety and spiritual strength, a beacon for believers.
