QURANIC STORY

Quran Names Only ONE Woman

The Quran names only one woman explicitly: Maryam (AS), honored in Surah Maryam.

📖 Surah Maryam (19:16-34)

Maryam (AS), daughter of Imran, was dedicated to the service of Allah SWT from birth. Her mother had vowed that her child would serve in the temple, and Allah SWT accepted her with grace. As Maryam (AS) grew, she retreated to a private chamber in the east, devoting herself to worship. There, the angel Jibril (AS) appeared in the form of a man, bringing her tidings from Allah SWT.

He announced that she would bear a son, Isa (AS), a sign for humanity and a mercy from Allah SWT, conceived without a father through divine command. Overwhelmed yet faithful, Maryam (AS) withdrew to a remote place. She endured labor pains beneath a date palm, where fresh dates fell to nourish her, and a stream appeared at her feet. When she returned to her people with the infant, they questioned her, but Isa (AS) spoke from the cradle, affirming his prophethood and servitude to Allah SWT.
